Dear , Your service request : SR #{ticketno:[8200146890]} has been reviewed and updated. Response and Service Request History: All AMD processors, whether Tray or PIB, have the same part number format etched on the processor. The determination on whether the processor is a Tray processor PIB processor is done by the serial number.
PIB processors would have a PIB OPN imprinted on the box, i.e. ADA4600CUBOX; however the processor would always say ADA4600IAA5CU whether it is a PIB processor or Tray. If you would like us to find out for you whether the processor you have is a Tray or PIB processor, please provide us with the serial number that is imprinted on the processor itself and we would happily assist you.
If you have a Tray processor that was packaged in a PIB box and the serial number on the CPU matches the box, please contact us at 408-749-3060 (North America) or +44-1276-803299 (European Union) for more assistance. In order to update this service request, please respond, leaving the service request reference intact. Hello there,
I am a reseller and value-add(er).
It just came to my attention that you are BOXING tray units.
The box does have the right part number and the serial number does match the processor in the box.
However, the part number laser-written on the processor is, VERY OFTEN NOW, the tray part number.
Nobody saves the little manual or the box.
Are you guys going to honor the 3 year warranty when, AND IF ? big IF, the processor fails within three yearswithout present the original box and/or the little manual with the label?
I need this answer quickly as even the new PHENOM 9850 and 9950 are presenting this problem (well, it is a problem when the customer searches for the part number and it shows as tray type).
The only other way is if, and only if, you are registering, in your records, the serial number as a boxed processor. Is this the case?
Example:
